Staff & Chairperson Updates

Teresa relayed that interviews are ongoing for the PFC coordinator position. Hopefully, the new hire will be on board in October. Teresa will be stepping down as the chairperson at the end of the year. LeeAnn Mortensen has graciously offered to step in to this role since she will be continuing on with PFC in her new role at Hazelden.

Medicine Disposal Campaign Overview & Request

The medicine disposal campaign started on July 26. It will run through November 6, 2018. Flyers were dropped off at pharmacies, oral surgeon offices, and hospice centers. An email was sent to partners announcing the campaign. Newspaper ads will run in the Sun Post, Sun Sailor, Maple Grove/Osseo Sun Press and the North News. Facebook analytics show for the month of August we had 32,421 impressions (the number of times the ads were on screen), 160 clicks (the number of clicks on the ads), and 177 post engagement activities (the total number of actions that people take involving the ad). We’ll provide a follow-up once the campaign is complete. Teresa requested that coalition members share and like the ads on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Kjirsten Anderson presented on sustainability and efforts the coalition is working on. Members discussed the possibility of looking at local grants through foundations. The new PFC Coordinator will work with North Memorial Hospital’s grant writing specialist to check into grant opportunities through the Medica Foundation and possible corporate grants through other businesses.

Community Partner Sharing

• A multicultural event is held at the Crystal Community Center on the 4th Wednesday of the month in November, December and January.
